| Monogram Tips, Hints and Alphabets
Monograms, by definition, are individual. You are limited only by your imagination. Please remember, unless otherwise noted for a particular product, we will follow the first, last, middle initial configuration. When ordering monogrammed items, we ask that you enter initials in that order (first, last, middle). If you would like a particular monogram stitched differently, please note that in the comments section for each particular item purchased. Listed below are traditional guidelines:
Individuals: the common order is first initial, last initial, middle initial, with the last initial stitched larger than the first and middle initials. For example, Lisa Ann Brown’s monogram would be LBA.
Couple: the common order is the woman’s first initial, couple’s last initial, man’s first initial, with the last initial stitched larger than the first and middle initials. For example, Lisa and John Smith’s monogram would be LSJ.
Men/Boys: traditionally, men and boys had their initials placed in natural order (first, middle, last) all stitched in the same height, typically in the Block font. For example, Kevin Charles Smith’s monogram would be KCS. Men and boys traditionally could have their initials listed first, last, middle in the circle or diamond pattern. Additionally, initials can be “stacked” with the first and middle initials placed vertically next to the last initial with both stacks being the same height. Again, these are the traditional rules. Men and boys can have their monograms stitched in the first, last, middle configuration in any font you choose.
Single Name/Initial: these may be used as well and are considered less formal than traditional three letter monograms.
Greek Letters: we can personalize items with fraternity and sorority letters. Please spell out the full name of your fraternity or sorority in the comments section and we will stitch the correct letters.
Please order carefully. Monogrammed and personalized items may not be returned unless it is our mistake. If there are any questions please email us at terrie@preppyparade.com and I will be more than happy to assist you.
